2. Poets often include in their poems places that evoke strong emotion. In the work of ONE poet you have studied, show how settings in poems have been connected to the presentation of feelings.
When I ask people to use one word to describe the famous American poet Emily Dickinson, there are plenty words can describe her: freedom, nature loving, loneliness, recluse. One word attracts my attention, “recluse”? A person who withdrawns from society and seeks solitude? Maybe, but if she really loves nature, she may escape from this flourishing and also chaos world to a place where is quiet, no chaos and she could even play with the insects to spend her time. From my perspective, a recluse should be solemn and speechless. When I read the Poem” A narrow Fellow in the Grass”, it immediately gets my attention, there is one element in the title attracted me “ A narrow Fellow”, what does the author want to descirbe, an insect? Maybe. If the author really used this “Narrow Fellow” to describe an insect, which would let me feel a little bit cute and fun. The author did not act as a recluse, inside her mind she is still a child who wants to share her happiness with other people.
The first stanze only talks about how author found this guest, the line” You may have met him? Did you not?” Which gives readers a feeling that the author loves this narror Fellow, she did not describe the insect as an uninvited guest nor an insect, the “him” used in the third line in the first stanza shows that the Emily Dickinson really loves nature, she puts the element in the nature an equal position with her. “You may have met him?” Sounds like she is facing an old friend rather than a new person. Which would let readers to place themselves at that condition, and found the fun in that situation. Then from second stanza to the last second stanza, the author describe the actions of that Boy and she. The second stanza “The grass divides as with a Comb.” First shows her characteristic of nature loving, also “as a Comb” is very good metaphor, no one would relate the grass on the ground as the comb, but the grass really looks like the comb. Then one confusion in this poem is that what was the spotted shaft? From my perspective the author wants to describe a coming insect because after the second line of the second stanza, the author describes several actions, like “Close at your Feet and opens further on.” In my interpretation, those action mean the close and good relationship between the author and the nature. The third and fourth stanzas totally show how the author interacts with her friend, I interpret the Boy as author’s good friend. The words and phrases, such as “Boggy Acre”, “ Braefoot” and “ Unbraiding in the sun”. These words and phrases it passes to readers the desire of the nature from Dickinson. She does not want to live in the city, she was eager of the natural life, when we read the word Barefoot, we first would imagine an image that a barefoot on the green grass, it is a symbolism of the interaction with nature. So one reason people like to read Emily Dickinson’s poems because her products could really trigger people’s eagerness for the nature.
For the fifth stanza, I am little confused about the main idea about it, I do not know what feeling the author wants to pass to the readers. The line “I feel for them a transport of cordiality” It is a little bit strange metaphor, no one would describe a real person as a transport, so author now is describing the natural people, which are the insects, the natural dwellers in the forests. The word in the last line of this stanza "cordiality" this word means the zealous behavior. And in the whole poem, this word also illustrates the nature's love to the author.
However, the style of the poem changes so fast from the fifth stanza to the last stanza, the author’s emotion changes to negative, in the beginning of the last stanza "but never met this fellow" two negative words give readers a feeling that the fellow invaded in author’s peaceful life. And then next line" attend or alone" which could let readers feel the sadness in it.
In general, the whole poem illustrates author’s love on the nature and the good relationship between the nature and the author, but that Fellow, whatever it is, it symbolized the misfortune, such as the Civil Wars happened in 1850s, it ruined much lands and caused many casualities. But the author still uses many space in poem to describe the happiness and quietness that nature brings for her. The poem really corresponds with Emily Dickinson’s writing style.

Poem Post 1
4. A famous classical poet has said that the aim of literature is to teach and to delight. In the work one poet you have studied, examine some poems where both of these aims ( instruction and something that pleases the reader ) have been included, and show how that has achieved.
For the poem “ Blood”. In order to know the aim of this poem, first thing is to know the background information of this poem. This poem was written after the 911 by Naomi Shihab Nye. So the aim of this poem is to clear that not all Arabs are bad, not all of them are violent.
In the first line of the first stanza, the author wrote down that “ A true Arab knows how to catch a fly in his hands.” The “ A true Arab” was repeated in the poem for several times. From the background information part, we know that the aim of this poem is to dissolve the misunderstandings from public on the Arabs. So the word “ true Arab” highlighted the different actions or minds between a true Arab and some bad impressions from publics toward on Arabs. Then at the second to fourth line in the first stanza, the author talked about how did her father catch the fly and then released it. And also the release part was a hint to the readers that a true Arabs not only knows how to catch a fly but also after catch it, they would release them back to nature.
And then in the second stanza author only talked about how true Arabs trust in their beliefs. But also at the third line of this stanza, “ I changed these to fit the occasion.” This line also let the readers found a little bit difference between the father and daughter. Father abided the tradition, but the daughter did not really follow the tradition.
Moreover the third stanza, it talked about one girl who went to author’s home in order to know what did one true Arab look like. But the author rejected this request because under the author’s young mind, there’s no difference between everyone, why did this girl want to find true Arab. So the third stanza also passed the readers a real important information that there’s no real difference between each racial, all the characteristics were added by humans. Then in the last two lines of this stanza, the father told the author that a true Arab would give back their names to the sky, and author also spoke out this opinion, and this is corespond with the topic, Blood, even though the author was not a full Arabian, but because of the blood, she is still a Arabian and hold the identity of a true Arabian.
Then in the fourth stanza, the author suddenly read one death of a Palestinian, which shocked the author and also let author begin to think what should she do. In this stanza, there’s no description of true Arabs, but instead of that, the author talked “ Homeless fig, this tragedy with a terrible root is too big for them.” In this line, I interpret that the homeless fig is used to describe the Arab people who stayed in foreign, and the author showed her worry toward the unknown Palestinian, but also the next sentence” What flg can we wave?” It is a question that asks the author herself, but also it’s a question to ask us, as readers, as an individual in the whole community, when we met the tragedy, what should we do. The author wanted to use the death of the Palestinian to remind the public that when we met the disaster, first thing should be united, not to blame on each other at first.
The last stanza author talked about her confusion, in the last three lines, the author used three questions: “Who calls anyone civilized? Where can the crying heart graze? What does a true Arab do now?” These three questions sound like the shout, but also like a cry from the whole community of Arabs. What should they do, only because of tiny group of Arab did something wrong and the public blame on the whole community, so I would interpret this whole poem as a clarification from the Arabs to the whole world that Arabs are not violent, not all of them are terrorists, the true Arabs love the life, they were eager for peacefullness and also wanted to be treated equally.

Staging proposal.
For staging MLML or TPG, the first thing I consider about is to show the difference between richness and the poor people. And also another important element is to show how the girl traveled long distance from village to the big city. Instead of setting stage into two parts, rich people’s region and the poor peasants’ region, because half stage used to show poorness and half stage used to show richness would let audience be confused about the setting and also can not show the hardness of Desiree who traveled for the long distance. So I would like to separate the whole play into four parts, the time period before Daniel came in, the time period when Desiree found out Daniel and took care of him and then his father took him away, then the time period she spent on the traveling, then the last time period she spent with Daniel and died in front of the palace. ( This staging skill in the past I did not think about it, but after I watched The School of Rock, it inspired me of doing this method. )
For the first part, the time period before Daniel, the whole stage is the peasants’ area, and I believe the light should be dark brown because it highlighted the characteristic of the peasants. For the costume, whoever Tonton Julian, Mama Euralie or other peasants, they all wear the clothes with holes and mud on them, however, Desiree would wear the clothes with patchy on them in order to show difference between the other peasants and Desiree. And in order to show the her social withdrawal, I would like to choose the part when everyone went to the Vaudum ceremony where sets in the stage right, Desiree would go to stage left to stay near the river and do the soliloquize. And when the party starts, the lights on the peasants would be light red or light orange in order to show the happiness, however, the light on Desiree would be blue in order to show the peace and quiet environment. And also the contradict between the busy atmosphere and the quiet atmosphere would give audience a hint of the difference between Deisree and all other peasants.
Suddenly, it came a howl, and then a loud crash. Then the light shuts immediately, I would describe this darkness as the stage change from scene 1 to scene 2. At this time, Desiree does not need to move, but the peasants’ party should be removed and put a fake tree on the stage center. Because on the stage, making a car crash and let Daniel stay in the crashed car are difficult to accomplish , so at this part I would change the scene to Daniel just laid down beside the tree and his burning car( we could only use scrap metal as the crashed car) sets on the margin of the stag right.) Then the Desiree would find out Daniel, which she moves from stage left to the stage center. And she called loudly in order to attract more peasants and at the same time she hold him carefully in order to show her care. When she is waiting for peasants coming, Papa Ge would appear next to the burning car and he should wear in black and also scared Desiree which he will walk from the margin of stage right and slowly move to center of the stage. As he approaching the stage center, Desiree would pray for the Agwe and Erzulie for her love. At that time, the background music should be the sound of storm and thunder, Papa Ge would laugh giggly about the pray And after Desiree prayed, Papa Ge disappeared with the giggly laughing and also with the heavy industrial music. Then the stage would appear white light with no background music, at that time, Desiree would look at the Daniel and begins singing.
Then it will be the transitional scene from the small village to the big city. In this part personally I do not want to add the scene where Mama took Desiree to the god battle part, which I believed that part only reinforced Desiree’s decision to leave the small village, in fact it does not truly change anything. So I would set this scene’s start with the conversation between Desiree with Tonton Julian, they both stay in the stage left. Then Desiree would begin to ask question to Julian, and also Desiree asked Tonton Julian to give his blessing to leave, Julian would be silent for a moment, but in the end he said stay safely to Desiree and just let her go. At this time, the staging life would be light yellow to show the sadness of leaving. When Desiree left the small village from stage left to right, I would suggest the whole lighting would shut down, only lights on the Desiree in order to show her loneliness. Then on the road, she began to move from stage left to right. In order to show that she spent much time on traveling, I would recommend that using the change between red lights and blues lights to illustrate that she spends many days and nights on the road. Then she would talked with first women about the patience during the conversation of requesting some food. The woman’s clothes can be clean and also appropriate. Which would show the difference between a peasants and a citizen. The she finally arrived in the big city, which we would using some white boxes to make a big gate to show the city. And the comparison between a black peasant with patchy clothes and a white and magnificent gate, which would illustrate how huge gap there is between richness and the peasants. Then Desiree wanted to go into the gate, but was rejected by the watchman because she needs to wear shoes, so she went back from stage right to stage right to find that cooking woman and asked for a pair of shoes to wear.
Then the scene 4, where Desiree had successfully gone into the house. The lighting would be light blue to show the quietness in the palace. When Desiree stayed in the stage left to watch the landscape, suddenly she found out Daniel who stood in the center and looked at her, at that time, Daniel wore the suits and looks very noble, but Desiree, even though she wore the white skirt and the shoes, her black skin also showed that she did not stay in the same level with Daniel. Suddenly Daniel lost his conscious, then Desiree took him back to her room which located at the margin of the stage left. And then the light shut down and turn on after several second in order to show the pass of the night. Then Father of Daniel would came from stage right to stage left and told Daniel that he would never agree the marriage between them, at that time, the light on Daniel’s father would be red. Then after Daniel’s father gone, Daniel promised to Desiree that he would marry her. Then the stage transferred into a big hall that contains many nobles, then Daniel and Desiree would appear from stage right to the stage center, they would hold their hand together. Daniel would wear suits and Desiree would wear the white dress and white shoes, however, the contradiction between the white dress with her skin would seem a little bit ridiculous. After they move to stage center, many nobles would come together and use different languages to admire Desiree, but Desiree did not understand what they are talking about, so she could only step back a little bit and smile, which those two actions would show Desiree’s unconfidence. Then in order to gratitude the guests, Desiree would move to stage right and begin dancing for them, at this time, the white light would point to Desiree only. However, when she is dancing, other guests and Daniel would make a small circle and begin talking, they even do not pay attention on Desiree, the small circle represents the richness and even though Desiree makes herself as a noble but the whole small circle resists her. And after the celebration, Daniel would leave earlier than Desiree from stage center to stage right. This would give audience a hint that Desiree and Daniel’s relationship is not strong enough, the huge gap still exists. Then the light would shut down and all the guests do not need to move, only Daniel would move back to stage left and Desiree would go to stage right, at the margin, sits on a chair to look at the celebration between Daniel and Andrea. Daniel and Andrea would show up from stage left then move to the center, Daniel would wear the suits and also Andrea would wear the white dress, but this time, the white dress seems corresponding with Andrea’s skin color. And when guests come and admire Andrea, Andrea would use different languages to answer them. Then Daniel would follow Andrea and dance with her. This time, guests would not make a small circle and talk privately, they would clap for them and admire them. So the difference results between Desiree’s dancing and Andrea’s dancing directly give audience that who will be the wife of Daniel. And also the different attitudes from guests would let audience figure out how huge gap there is between richness and poorness. In the end, Desiree became crazy, she ran from stage right to stage center, she seems she wants to destroy this celebration, but the vendors pull her over the gate, she cries and asks Daniel that does she do anything wrong? But Daniel does not pay attention on her, he acts as his father. Then suddenly Desiree was hit by the vendors on the wall, and she falls on the ground, but no one pays attention on her, the white light would draw on her, the scene would look a little bit funny that all rich people talk and celebrate in a hall, but outside the hall, there is a peasant girl who saved the rich person’s son, but no one cares about it, then the light shuts down slowly, the whole play ends.

In Class Wrting
The M. Bienconnu represents the old peasant people, they experienced a lot and they figured out that their fate are already designed even before they born, “ History has cast our fate in stone.” This line not only shows that M. Bienconnu reminds Ti Moune about the huge gap between richness and poor people, the birth already became the important factor to influence their fate. But also I believed that this line also shows M. Bienconnu helplessness, he experiences a lot, even though he figured out many things, but he still had no choice to go through this gap, after I read this line, the first feeling is the ridiculousness from the author toward the society where the color of skin already decides everything for you.
But for Ti Moune, I believe she represents the young generation, she has the vitality and she did not experience many things, which she may have encourage to do something that old people, such as M. Bienconnu, was afraid. For example, the thing Ti Moune wanted to go to big city to find Daniel and get marriage. However, Ti Moune was shocked by the words from Ti Moune, during the conversation, Ti Moune only persisted one thing—going to big city to save Daniel—However, M.Bienconnu hinted her that his heart does not beat for her, and also the gap is really huge, these lines chilled Ti Moune, which I believed in the end, if there’s no Tonton Julian persistence to ask gods, Ti Moune would give up her mind because of panic.

Costume design
Clothes:
For peasants:
Whatever women or men, short hair, and black hair color.
There will be some mud, oil or even some holes in the clothes, but they seem they do not care about it.
When peasants do their work in the farm, they would not care about the clothes.
Unruly hair.
For Ti Moune:
Medium long hair, the hair color is dark brown.
Because she always went to the river, always washed her clothes, which would seem a little bit cleaner than the peasants'. Also the holes in the clothes Ti Moune sewn up.
When Ti Moune does work in the farm, she would roll up her sleeve in order to protect mud on her sleeves.
Maybe Ti Moune could wear skirt to show the difference between herself and other peasants.
Silky hair.

Notes from MLML 10--16
Chapter 10:
Enter city, vitality. Excitement.
Gazed in wonder at lights strung out.
Seemed indeed to peasant girl that they needed the world to laugh in.
Men and women danced together, holding each other.
Stirring about dance, fear spread through her, up from soles of her feet, an unnamed fear.
Run, but anxiety blinded her, tripped and fell facedown.
She who had traveled night and day with courage and confidence now succumbed to despair at the strangeness around her.
The night has no eyes. Use yours.
Women sleeping in shadows of houses gave her new courage, tomorrow I shall go on.
Awoke, she waled, asking directions of those she met, sun in sky.
The hill curved upward steeply. Vendors trays balanced on their heads formed a continual stream.
She had gone halfway up when the road made a curve to reveal another hill.
She saw a hotel, massive building rose three stories and dominated the city that sprawled beneath. Tonton description is not enough. Not exaggeration.
The palace was grander than the description.
Desiree hurried around the last few curves in the road. Approaching the hotel from side.
Desiree came to the front gate, opened at the center, where the driveway led from the road to entrance.
Two uniformed guards who opened the gates, quickly let in guests, and closed them to stand guard inside.
She studied that scene, some vendors on the grounds, Artisans, displaying paintings, woodcarvings, sculptures, embroidered cloth.
Put one foot out, the other will follow.
Tried to push through, ask, no. Pushed her away.
Guard scowled, he said no one was selling, no one was buying.
No money.
Woman,, where, nothing to sell or buy.
Desiree stood waiting, go on then, if you must, it will gain you nothing.
Also push on, exercising patience with each vendor in turn, the girl worked her way to the gate.
One step inside, and the other guard, PEASANT PIG, get back with the SCUM where you belong.
Laughed. The squat man, blood red face, threatening
NO SHOES, shaking bodies and laughing. Her mud caked feet, for vendors, plastic shoes, straw shoes, rubber thongs.
Ran down hill, through city, retracing her steps of the day before, wood met sea. Exhausted.
She sat for hours, no thinking.
Start thinking again. Night time, despair.
Corosol on branch of tree, big heavy,
Trade it with shoes, no equal.
Women selling dresses admired the fruit and took it.
Lucifus, that serpent, hates peasants. Groundkeeper. Never enter.
The man looked at peasant feet, shoes? Pray that to fit your feet, then chose a dress from stall. Blue and reddest comb.
Even with the help of gods, for th poor all gates are difficult to enter, even the gates of heaven.
Chapter 11:
Desiree bathed in the sea, washed hair and combed the knots from it. Then slipped into her new blue dress and stuck the bright red comb in her hair. Lovely.
Confidence, spirit soared.
She had never worn shoes, her feet were large, long toes, pain, new experience in torture,
She needed to wear shoes to enter the gates of the CB. Had to endure.
Vendors opened the way for her to pass, and with others, letting her through.
Ridiculous peasants. Did you ever see such a gaudy comb as the one that girl is wearing.
Not understand, French.
Daniel. It is he. Also spoke French.
Impatience of elder Beauxhomme. Insolence of peasants. Drove off.
Shall never leave these grounds again.
Desiree lived in a terror, but she lived so well. After everyone gone, kicked off shoes, eased her feet. Happiness.
Bathed in swimming pools.
Room beneath the room of Daniel.
She reached the pool and disappeared. She stood up and moved to the spot to see him, groan. Was he. Touched him.
I am her, i am here to keep you safe, he remembers all things.
Nothing to remember. But help him because of weakness. Put pn comb.
He held on her and lay beside him. Fell asleep.
Chapter 12:
Desiree awoke, someone shaken her.
A beautiful, dark mahogany colored woman. Daniel godmother and nursemaid.
She put a deliberate distance between herself and Desiree. From madame to peasants.
Asked TM to go, but rejected. INSOLENCEW.
Daniel woke up. Stayed because he slept an entire night without pain.
Hope. His responsibility.
Dad, sad eyed man entered, smiling. Looked Desiree. My son TRYST with a peasants.
Explained for him. Both Daniel and nursemaid.
Pure madness. Teaching of the devil.
No answer, Desire felt chill go through her.
Daniel father never looked her. The man was the cause of hunger the pain she had endured.
Work of Desiree, servants of Daniel. What a care.
Wish of gods, also her wish.
Daniel grew stronger, stronger. Sleep finding himself in her arms, drew her into his. Moaned.
Talked about experienced, all things.
Love in the bright eyes of the young couple. Crisis of Daniel had passed, shall go. Father would reward you.
Confusion. Talked to Daniel, you shall be with me always. Without TM, lose health and strngth if she ever leaves. Die. I now belong to her.
Desiree is responsible for me, to you i gave a new responsibility, make my mistress into a grand demoiselle.
Dressmakers. Hair dressers. Fashion clothes and shoes. Lovely women were jealous. Polished.
Desiree and Daniel, insulated by love, saw and heard only each others.
Desiree wanted to be his wife and also does not to be said. Wanted the mountains of this Jewel of the Antilles becomes green. For Asaka.
Desiree looked down and found a man who took a cigar. Afraid. No one is there, Lucifus?
Chapter 13:
Father stayed in France. Prepared for return.
Grand ball for the evening. Dignitaries, wealthy patrons and aristocracy.
Decorators. Excitement. Presence of mistress.
Speechless because of language: african, chinese, italian and German. Silence.
No confidence. She danced and no wrds to thank her admirers and thank for them. Supreme.
Bowed and smiled. Happy.
Month before, picked from garbage buckets, now was a lady of elegance.
Desiree, chose one and leave. Not. Can not leave.
God did curse you, deep the love of peasant and patron runs, the bonds bind them. Hurts deeper.
Go before this love destroys you, us.
Terrified, ran into the garden and stood looking around. Frenzy. Despair.
Lufifus, heard about her, curiosity aabout his resentment. Papa Ge had taken possession of him, part of darkness. Reached Desiree.
Butterfly sensed her terror and flew. Overwhelmed.
Chapter 14:
Andrea return from abroad, Papa let his son visit the Hotel to celebrate. Left early and grew late.
Balcony, Desire waited for him.
Agwe, Erzulie, have mercy, protect me.
Comforted, Desiree started to turn oto enter her room, stopped. A squat man standing in the garden. Anccient dream.
Asked Daniel about promised with Andrea.
Yes, but young are no long bound by the wishes of the old. Little Andrea has grown into a beauty.
Daniel had fully recovered, days with dad and nights returned home, flushed with happiness and lavish in his praise. Perfect of men.
Papa received Andrea and he took plan of the event, invitations were printed/. Did not invited Desiree. From balcony to see the grand reception.
Admiring. Andrea was perfect, tall, white skin with hair the texture of cornsilk, greatting in different language. Forced into a numb.
Andrea and Daniel danced, gazed into each other’s eyes and talked, laughed, face close, move to mosic, arms tightened around each other and cheek touch cheek. Smile and hwispered.
Took home, From Andrea, keep Desiree into the palace, then Daniel was removed from room of Daniel into a small room of her own and far with Daniel.
Chapter 15:
No eat, exhausted, lost weight, Daniel is away, gone south.
The strength of the hand is in the man’s not the boy’s .Like the rule of kingdoms is in the hands of kings and not princes. STUPID GIRL. Cheat the gods. C
Change clothes.
Father has announced the date of Daniel wedding to Andrea. The time is set.
Wanted Daniel to reture.
She listened to his limping steps on the stairs, heard the thumping of his cane on the rug as he reached the landing to his rooms.
What have I down to displeasure. No but my life that I have pledged to Andrea.
Then must I leave, no TM stay I love you but you need to stay with me.
Erzuliie calling from window, lost your comb. Gift from gods.
Papa Ge said Daniel should pay. Take the knife, strike hard, strike deep, let his blood flow heavy. He betrayed you. Shaking of her body.
She had saved him, she is hers. But left he room and walked barefoot down the long hall.. Opened and entered. Sleeping man, Raised the knife high to plunge. No, she ran, ran down the steps,
She loved Daniel and he loved her. And she might have killed h im.
Peasant swine, mother of a dog. TRICK. , never intended to kill Daniel.
You disgrace this place with your stench.
She had become so weakened that her knees buckled.
Lucifus laughed, A likely story. No one trust her. Craziness. Shrug. TM, the way of the world.
Chapter 16:
Wedding approached.
Food, custome, stage.
Skies grew dark and darker.
Wedding day dawned, the skies had again darkened, thunder rolled like boulder hitting against clouds. Vendors sleeping at the sides of road.
Bright island flowers. Desiree sat among vendors at the road. Two weeks not eaten, not slept.
Suffering the pain of her dislocated shoulders. Agwe, truth is not where eyes can see. Daniel greatest love is for me.
Church bells clanged. Outside the church, Deisree, despite the pain of her dangling, useless arm, attempted to stand where Daniel could see her.
Daniel left his car and entered the church, Cheers, long, MISTAKE. Happiness inside.
The thunder growled like a dog straining toward an enemy, the peasant girl kept waiting for the miracle that seemed less and less likely. Madame came and Desiree heart leaped in expectation.
Daniel limped up to gate, happy face and threw out handfuls of coins, on ground, scrambling and snatching, grabbing.
Looked at the gate, their eyes locked a moment, he too turned and stroke away. Hadnt seen her, just as his father.
The peasant girl glanced down at her mud feet, ragged dress, cried out.
Thunder rocked the countryside. Attempt to blot out the sound. Strong gusts of wind blew, whipping up the earth, flinging pebbles against the car. The crowd fell back.
Police kept pushing, kept swingging at the peasants. She lost her footing.
Weak from hunger and pain, she lacked the strngth or will to pick herself up.
Swarms of papillons appeared on the hill, big beautiful butterflies hit against the heads, the mouth the yes of peasants.
Then papillons fluttered thickly over the body of the peasant girl lying on road, flew away. Lay unnoticed for a long time. Father came and asked Lucifus to clean the road. He dumped her at the side of road to await the GARBAGE COLLECTORS.
Vengeance, roar trembled the entire island. Rain, tears.
